God Will Never Leave You

God Will Never Leave You

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”
— Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

I sometimes think God created certain animals not to reflect His character but to remind us what He is not.

Take the cassowary, for example.

If you’ve never seen one, imagine a giant prehistoric bird with a helmet on its head and the attitude of a dinosaur. Native to the South Pacific, cassowaries are large, flightless birds that look intimidating enough to star in a science fiction movie.

But what stands out most about the cassowary isn’t its appearance.

It’s the way the female abandons her eggs.

After laying them, she leaves the male behind to sit on them for weeks until they hatch. Then he raises the chicks on his own until they are old enough to survive independently.

As strange as it sounds, that image hits close to home for me.

There was a season in my life when I unexpectedly found myself parenting alone. The weight of rejection, grief, and depression settled heavily on me. Some days, I felt discarded—like life had stamped “reduced” across my forehead and pushed me aside.

Those were painful days.

But looking back now, I can also see something else clearly:

God never left me.

In fact, during some of the darkest moments of my life, His presence became even more real to me. When I felt weak, overwhelmed, and emotionally exhausted, He met me there with strength I could not create on my own.

Little by little, my dependence on Him deepened.

I learned to pray differently.
To trust differently.
To lean on my heavenly Father in ways I never had before.

And through that process, God began healing parts of my heart I didn’t even realize were broken.

People can disappoint us.
Relationships can fail.
Others may walk away when we need them most.

But God does not abandon His children.

Sometimes we mistake unanswered prayers or difficult seasons as proof that God has forgotten us. But silence is not abandonment, and hardship is not absence.

The Lord remains near even when life feels uncertain.

If you’ve ever experienced rejection, betrayal, loneliness, or heartbreak, then you understand how easy it is to feel emotionally stranded. Yet Scripture reminds us over and over that God remains faithful.

Jesus promised He would never leave us.
The Holy Spirit remains with us continually.
And our heavenly Father does not walk away from the people He loves.

God is not like the cassowary.

He stays.

Even in grief.
In fear.
Or in seasons where life feels painfully lonely.

So today, hold tightly to this truth:

You are not abandoned.

Whatever circumstances you are facing, God still sees you, walks beside you, and faithfully cares for you.

And He always will.

Lord, thank You for being faithful even when life feels uncertain. Help me trust Your presence when I feel alone or discouraged. Remind me that no hardship, rejection, or disappointment can separate me from Your love. Amen.
